There comes a
time, sometimes many times, in a relationship when we do not seem to
talk to each other. Conversation seems to dry up, we feel we know what
the other person is thinking.
The irony is
that this indicates some degree of closeness in a relationship and yet
we feel it drifting apart.
You are right
to say that communication is important in a relationship. Perhaps your
relationship has reached a point where the communication needs to move
on from the mundane to more important matters.
By more
important matters, we mean 'feelings', thoughts, opinions, hopes
desires, world views etc.
Try to get to
understand your partner more by asking here feelings about things, ask
what her opinions are, ask what her dream life would be.
This may sound
'flowery' to you right now but give it a go. One word of caution,
avoid politics or religion in your discussions.
What you are
trying to do is to get to know her better and to show an interest in
'her' and everything about her.
You have to be
prepared to 'share'', so you should be ready to tell her your
opinions, feelings, thoughts and desires. But let your focus be on
'her' not simply waiting for a chance to talk about yourself.
